     <3 Two thousand thirteen was a one of the best years of my life. I graduated from college, I started working as a teacher, which was what I had always wanted to do and I got to go to Europe to study abroad (and travel). The summer of 2013 was the perfect time to go, since the program started a week after graduation. Being here in the US, is already a study abroad experience for me; but when I was in France, I felt like I really got that experience of being abroad. I got to live with other international students as well,  for the first time in my life I wasn't with my family. I'm so used to live with them. I felt like an independent person. I was responsible to get to school and "work" on time. I had to cook for me, do laundry, and live on my own. This was a big deal for me. I am not used to all that. It's kinda embarrassing to admit, since I am 24 almost 25 (haha!) but, it really was a big deal. I enjoyed it because I learned that I could do those things I never did before. 

     As part of the study abroad program, I went to an elementary school, a middle school and a high school in Amiens, France. The main purpose of the program, was to see and compare the French education system with the American education system. It was really cool to see how it worked, and to see that I was living what I had studied. It was also really neat to see many similarities with the Costa Rican education system. At times I even felt like I was in Costa Rica. I even got to teach classes in Spanish and English. I met the sweetest French kids, and amazing teachers and staff members. They were all so nice and made me feel welcome. I got to practice my French. I never knew how well I spoke it, until I got there. I'm so proud of myself.  I'll never forget those two months in Europe. <3

     <3 El dos mil trece fue uno de los mejores años de mi vida porque me gradué de la universidad, empecé a trabajar en lo que siempre había querido, de maestra y fui a Europa a estudiar (y pasear). Ese verano fue el momento perfecto para ir, ya que el programa en Francia empezaba una semana después de la graduación. El estar en los Estados Unidos también es estudiar en el extranjero, pero fue en Francia donde realmente sentí que estaba en el extranjero. Viví con otros estudiantes internacionales, por primera vez en la vida no estaba con mi familia. Estoy tan acostumbrada a vivir con ellos (toda una vida). Ahí me sentí como una persona independiente. Yo era responsable por llegar a clases y al "trabajo" a tiempo, yo tenía que cocinar para mí, lavar ropa, y vivir sola (cosa que nunca había hecho). Para mí esta experiencia fue muy significativa. Da un poco de vergüenza admitirlo, ya que tengo 24 casi 25 años jaja. Realmente disfruté mucho de la experiencia porque aprendí que podía hacer cosas que no había hecho anteriormente. 

     Como parte del programa de la universidad, fui a tres instituciones educativas en Amiens, Francia. El objetivo principal era ver y comparar el sistema educativo francés con el sistema educativo americano. Fue realmente bonito ver cómo funcionaba y ver que estaba viviendo lo que había estudiado. También me gustó ver muchas similitudes con el sistema educativo costarricense. A ratos hasta me sentía que estaba en Costa Rica. También enseñé un par de clases en español e inglés. Conocí a  estudiantes súper dulces en todas las escuelas y colegios, también a maestros, profesores y gente del staff súper buena gente que me hacían sentir bienvenida. Practiqué montones el francés. Hasta que llegué ahí fue que me di cuenta de lo bien que lo hablaba. Estoy muy orgullosa por ese logro. 2 meses que nunca voy a olvidar. <3
